What is Page

PAGE – (“Parents and Advocates for Gifted Education”) is an organization of parents, individuals and professionals whose mission entails supporting and creating expanded opportunities for the education of identified gifted students of all ages and their families. PAGE supports and encourages the development of such programs, within our area schools (public, private, homeschoolers), and the development of additional extra-curricular activities and programs utilizing community and other resources. PAGE supports WINGS, and SCHOLARS through fundraising, arranging for guest speakers and seminars, and providing outreach to the community. PAGE also provides for additional affective and academic opportunities such as math competitions for students and field trips for students.

WINGS – The WINGS Program (Working with the Individual Needs of Gifted Students) is designed to identify academically gifted students. The purpose of the program is to provide academic challenge and rigor as well as address the social/emotional needs of the gifted student. Using this cognitive-affective interaction approach, the WINGS curriculum is divided into three categories: thinking and communication skills, major units of study and affective education. Students attend one full instructional day per week.

SCHOLARS- The Springfield Scholars Program (“Scholars”) is a full-time middle school program designed to identify and provide educational services for highly gifted students in grades 6-8. This accelerated academic experience provides students with the opportunity to pursue areas of strength in a high school setting. Students must qualify for gifted services and complete an application process to be eligible for participation. Scholars is located at Central High School.
