Dr. Kevin Hopkins received his PhD in Mathematics from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 1989. He began teaching at Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri in that same year and became mathematics department chair after one semester of training for that job. In addition to his interest in math contests and preparing students for them, he is interested in technology in mathematics. He has presented nearly eighty presentations, mainly on the topic of technology in mathematics, at a variety of mathematics conferences. He received SBU’s faculty “Life Beautiful” Award in 2006 and MCTM (Missouri Council of Teachers of Mathematics) Post-Secondary Outstanding Teacher Award in 2010.
